|
By Gail Gibbons
Whales are air-breathing, warm-blooded mammals. There are two groups of whales toothed and baleen with differences not only in physiology but also in behavior. Illustrated in bright clear, water colors each drawing is labeled with a helpful pronunciation guide. Included are “Whale Tales” which presents such factual tidbits as “A blue whale eats about 4,400 lbs. of krill a day” and “A sperm whale can dive down more than a half mile.” “A Blue Whale is the biggest animal that has ever lived.”
